“Kim So Eun! Are you dumb? Why are being chased after by so many people!” Junho questioned, with exasperation in his voice.
“But they were all loitering at the hotel lobby! I’ve rushed out to look for you the moment I read the news. I didn’t think that…”
“So? Can’t you just run back to your own room? They can’t do anything then. Don’t you know how to make a turn?”
“I am sorry… My mind totally blanked out…I was at a complete loss so I just picked my feet up and ran.” She lowered her head and nervously bit her lower lips, as she belatedly tried to defend her rather reckless actions. Junho’s heart couldn’t help but soften upon seeing how sorry and forlorn she looked.
“You fool, there’s no need for you to apologize. I should be the one saying sorry. I couldn’t protect you and let you suffer.” he chided softly. He then pulled her into his arms, pressed one side of her face to his chest and rested his chin on her head, trying to ease the ‘ordeal’ that she had just gone through.
“Hmmmm…” She made a small noise as she snuggled into his embrace.
Junho laughed out softly when he looked down at her a few seconds later and realized she had fallen asleep in his arms with a dreamy smile spreaded across her face. Her face was still flushed from the running that they done some thirty minutes earlier. They had managed to get rid of the paparazzi after contacting Taecyeon, who then sent a car to their rescue and drove them back to the apartment.
By the time they had arrived at the apartment, So Eun was still sound asleep. Unknown to Junho, So Eun had laid wide awake in her bed the previous night, thinking about their kiss and was driven beyond exhaustion by the mad chase this morning.
Under the unwavering scrutiny of five pairs of envious eyes, Junho carried So Eun into his room. The apartment in Tokyo wasn’t as big as the hostel in Hokkaido but it was big enough to house of the 6 of them. There was 2 beds in his room as he shared a room with Chansung. Surprisingly the room was rather well-kept and tidy.
He bent his body and slowly lowered So Eun’s hip & legs onto his bed first, before placing her head lightly on his pillow. Just as he was about to withdraw his arm from the back of So Eun’s neck, So Eun stirred slightly in her slumber and turned her head towards him. Junho froze immediately, fearing that she’d be awaken by the slightest movement. “Aaaahh…” So Eun then puckered her lips and let out a small sigh as her arms crept around Junho, pulling him down as she hugged his waist.
He nearly lost his balance and clenched his teeth tightly together as he leaned over So Eun and braced his other arm on the bed to steady himself. He felt like crying as his body was aching badly and his arms were shaking from the force that he was exerting to keep himself from falling flat onto So Eun’s head, laying between his arms. So Eun’s arms was still clinging tightly to his waist like a kola bear.
“Buah..haha!” Chansung let out a bark of laughter when he saw Junho’s rather awkward position but had to swallowed it back, when Junho turned his head back (with much difficulty) and shot him a glare that commanded him to keep quiet. But his shoulders were shaking with mirth as he tried to hold back his laughter. Soon Nickhun appeared at the door, giggling as he teased Junho softly, “Why don’t you take a rest too and lie down as well? Haha…Chansung, let’s go and not disturb them..haha.” he whispered and closed the door. Clutching their stomachs, both continued laughing their way into the living room.
Junho was blushing furiously and his ears had turned absolutely red.
After struggling internally for the longest time, he slid into the bed beside So Eun. He took a hard long look at the sweet angel with pinkish cheeks, long dark eye lashes and slightly creased brows, sleeping like a baby before his eyes, before burying her face in the curve of his neck and shoulder. He unconsciously tightened his hold on her and lowered his head to place a soft kiss on her forehead. Her sweet scent engulfed him as he breathed in her smell and closed his eyes.
He didn’t know when he had dozed off but he felt that he had through a long, long dream. There was only one scene in the dream – a scene that had jolted him out of his slumber.
It was already past noon when he woke up. He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw So Eun still asleep in his arms. However, she was no longer holding on to him. Instead, he was hugging her tightly, fearing that she would leave quietly, just like what she did in the dream.
He felt beads of pespiration on his forehead, but the air-conditioning in the room was working fine. Then why? Because of that dream?
He sighed, slowly let go of So Eun and carefully get off the bed. He left the room after covering her with a blanket.
Chansung was sprawled on the couch, snoring. Taecyeon and Nickhun had left for the gym. Junsu had headed to the recording studio as usual, while Wooyoung was napping in his room.
He roamed around the kitchen for a while and could only find few packets of instant noodles in the cabinets and a few bottles of beer in the fridge.
After cooking the instant noodle, he took a bottle of beer and began his breakfast at the dining table.
“Aaahhhh”, Chansung yawned and rubbed his eyes as he sat up at the couch. When he saw that Junho was already awake, he walked over and took a seat beside him.
“Hyung….. you are drinking beer??! I remembered that you don’t have such a habit of drinking beer?” Chansung asked in a puzzled tone.
Junho glanced at him, deep in thoughts as he said softly, “Do you know? I had a dream. I dreamt that she was walking away from me. I kept chasing and shouting but she simply ingored me. There seems to be a gulf that’s like thousand of miles wide between us…”
A gulf that can never be bridged, even when she is in my arms.
